Lily and her cousin Angus had a muddy but brilliant time racing their bikes at the Lakes RC cyclocross at Brockhole (the Lake District National Park visitor centre on the shores of Lake Windermere).
The generous Lakeland autumn sunshine made such a serene and beautiful scene even more so – but the mud on the tyres said that this was autumn and the cyclocross season’s here.
This was the first muddy ‘cross race of Lily’s short cycling experience, but her and her cousin Angus both buckled down and got on with some seriously tough racing. As with every other race she’s done, Lily made me gush with pride (fairly predictably I guess) and joined by her cousin – newly patriated to the North, made it an even more enjoyable day.
Loads of photos here by Phil and I – trying to out-pride each other. Shame that elder cousin Matthew couldn’t ride (was poorly) – but there will be three ‘under 12’ Haygarths in the Wheelbase ‘cross on 28 November, all being well.
